Tangata Ora

Ranolf Medical Centre has identified that health outcomes for Māori and Pasifika people were poorer than all other ethnicities:

  • Life expectancy is shorter
  • Mortality rates are higher across all age groups
  • worse health outcomes for all chronic illnesses and injuries

Tangata Ora is our new internal Maori-led service devoted to reversing these trends. Our objective is to deliver equal life expectancy for Māori.

Our focus is to improve the delivery of health care for Maori and Pacific patients: including how we measure progress, how we can all make a difference, and ultimately improve health care and health outcomes.

Hūtia te rito o te harakeke. Kei hea te kōmako e kō?
Ki mai ki ahau, he aha te mea nui o te Ao?
māku e kī atu, he tangata, he tangata, he tangata!

If you were to ask me, what is the greatest thing in this world?
I would be compelled to reply,
it is the people, the people, the people
