Whooping Cough Vaccine

Whooping cough is highly contagious and can cause serious harm to newborn babies. It is recommended to have a whooping cough vaccine (Boostrix), once you are over 16 weeks pregnant, to protect baby.

Boostrix is safe and free during pregnancy. Immunisation itself doesn’t pass on to your baby, but your immunity to whooping cough does.

We also encourage any whānau who will be in close contact with new born babies to check their whooping cough vaccine status. If an update is required please note that this may not be funded.

Please contact us today to discuss or book an appointment for your whooping cough vaccination.
